Delivering School Swimming to the Highest Standard
We currently run our school swimming lessons at two sites in St. Albans (Sandringham School in Marshalswick and Townsend School in High Oakes). When negotiating your lessons we aim to provide the most cost effective lessons with convenience of location in mind. We aim to undertake your lessons at the closest facility possible to your school to minimise disruption to the school day.
All of our lessons are conducted following the school swim and water safety charter.
The School Swimming and Water Safety Charter Awards have been designed with pupils of all abilities and backgrounds in mind. Using the Awards in your school swimming programme will:
Ensure all pupils have access to the most essential swimming and water safety skills, whatever their ability.
Provide reward and recognition to every pupil who participates in school swimming lessons.
Keep all pupils motivated to continue with their school swimming lessons and meet the national curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety.
Core Awards
There are eight core Awards for pupils to achieve. They are:
School Swimming and Water Safety Awards 1-6.
Aquatic Skills Award.
Self Rescue Award.
The Awards are progressive, enabling pupils to gain water confidence, develop aquatic skills and learn essential water safety and self-rescue techniques in line with the national curriculum.
Foundation awards
These awards are inclusive for those who may not be able to acheive the core awards during their time at primary school.
Completing these Awards does not meet the national curriculum requirements for school swimming and water safety. In order to meet national curriculum requirements, pupils must complete the School Swimming and Water Safety Awards.
